Today we will be discusing SEO and how it will help your business. Most dealerships that have an internet department will have two major things a website and usualy a lead source. The problem with most lead sources is the closing percentage. You can spend alot of money and alot of work for only a few cars. This problem is easily solved by using your dealerships website to virtually create your own free lead source. How can I do this you may ask. Its easy, SEO!!! SEO as I'm sure you have read about already here or somewhere else is search engine optimization. This is taking your website and changing every detail of it to make it "search engine friendly". The process (optimization) can be very involved. Google alone measures your site for this on 500 million variables and if thats not enough you still have to make sure it is optimized for Yahoo! and Bing. All three search engines use different code to rank sites, so something in google that is working may not help your rankings in Yahoo. You u need to find a balance between the three search engines to mantain that top position. Usually it is not to hard to be the number one result for your name. Where you can create leads for the site is under other search terms that you would target. Sometimes you have to think outside the box to really get it going. This is where our company comes in. We will take your site to that next level and make sure people see it under each of the search engines not only under your name but under other terms including your competition and much more. The best part about taking your website to the next level and investing time and money into it is because it is a long term solution. When you purchase leads you are not building up your business. You are in reality building up the lead providers business. By using your website to create leads not only are you going to increase your leads, floor traffic and website traffic but you will get your company name out there and it will stick with people. The longer your site is ranked high and genereating traffic the better it will get. With SEO another thing you must do is optimize your page regularly. This is a long term process you dont want to do it just one time and be done. It is something that needs to be mantained. Wrapping up this first article which I hope you enjoyed, you should consider optimizing your website and generating your own leads which are free and over time will keep building up which will not happen if you just keep purchasing leads from a provder. January 28, 2012 - Starting off the second post to our SEO Research section where we left off from the last post about Dealership websites and Automotive SEO. When I spoke of maintaining your dealerships website seo regularly what I mean is every few days you want to make changes to it. I cant tell too much without giving away all of my tricks but for starters you may want to create a blog or a news section similar to this one where you just keep your users up to date and coming back to the site. This is for mor that one reason. First off for the obvious, if your users are coming back to the site to check and see what news or articles you have posted they will already be on your site so you can show them ads or they may just click through your inventory on thier own. This will build up your return users resulting in a more powerful site. The second reason that alot of people dont know is because you also want the algorythyms out there to come back to your site frequently also to re-crawl your site for changes. This way if you make a change or target another search term you will not have to wait for a month or two for google to see it and show it in their results. This can be important if you are planning on having and posting sales alot. Lets go back to the word algorythym. What that does is "crawls or spiders" all the websites on the internet, follows thier links and saves all of the information on each one in the database on their servers. This is how www.google.com, www.yahoo.com and most other search engines provide search results to the end user. So if your are working on your dealerships website SEO frequently, you will get more search engine visits and in return you will have fresher content in the search results. This will also help you find good search terms that bring in the type of customers you are looking for. A good example of a search algorythim coming back frequently is news sites. When you google something and news that has happened an hour ago is already there that is why. You dont want your automotive dealerships website to get it that frequently when you are doing your SEO but every few days to a week would probably be perfect. February 1, 2012 - Today I will be talking about automotive lead sources which even if you are optimizing your website and doing a great job of it.. They can still be an effective way to squeze those last few vehicle sales out of your area. They area also great to buy leads from an area that your website just wont rank well in like,a surrounding city with multiple dealerships of the same MFG. With that said lead sources can be a great addition to your internet marketing strategy. I want to make myself clear on this though. To be successful in your internet sales you must first focus on your website and SEO/ SEM before you want to start dumping money into lead sources. Once your website is where it needs to be, then you go to the lead sources. When you start looking for lead sources the first question you need to know is are you looking for used car leads, new car leads or both. This will be important because I have found there are sources that are great at used but are not so much with new. Like www.Autotrader.com In the past we have used autotrader.com for both but not much luck with new. They do however have great used car leads. If you are looking for a good new car lead source then I would personaly recomend checking out www.Dealix.com. Of cource everything here is just in my experience and may not be the same depending on area and also type of car. Yes Type of car does make a slight difference. You may have a Kia dealership doing great with one lead source but when it is tried at a chevy dealership they dont sell anything. The best way to get through this process is to give each lead source that you try two months. Alot of times the first month is rough but usually by the second month you will have a good idea if they are going to work. You dont want to leave to early but also you want to sell cars so dont stay for two long. If the leads dont seem to be working out by the second month then try another.
